Wickwar Parish Council is pleased and proud to be lighting the beacon at King George’s Field on Thursday the 6th of June to take part in national events to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
The beacon will be lit at 9.15pm in line with others nationally with the reading of the International Tribute and playing of the last post beforehand. All are welcome to mark this huge milestone.
Our local Explorers group will be serving refreshments, including bacon and sausage butties and hot drinks, from 8pm so please come up early and support them.
