The Wickwar sports pavilion on the King George V playing field has served the village really well over the last 30 years but it is becoming increasingly expensive to maintain; the facilities within the pavilion do not meet the requirements for an expanding village and the layout does not meet current safeguarding and health and safety guidelines.
The Parish Council would love to upgrade or possibly replace the pavilion with a new purpose-built facility that will support the sporting and community requirements for the village over the next 30 years and are looking for individuals to volunteer and help build or rebuild a new pavillion and create a legacy for the village for many years to come.
This is a unique opportunity as the expansion of the village has led to funding finally being available for this project.
We are specifically looking for:
- Someone with building project management experience.
- Anyone who can help fundraise for the project. Especially contacting Charities who may award grants.
- Someone who has design / planning experience to help provide the most suitable new pavilion.
- Someone with building experience.
- A lawyer to assist with creating the new Trust.
- An accountant to manage the finances.
And anyone else who thinks they might be able to help?
If you are interested and wish to volunteer or seek further information, please contact the Parish Clerk Sarah Quick at clerk@wickwarparishcouncil.gov.uk
