A public meeting will be hosted by Crest Nicholson on 20th January 2021 (via Zoom).

In summary:
Wickwar Parish Council is clear that this proposal is speculative and conflicts with the objectives and policies of South Gloucestershire Council’s adopted Core Strategy and Policies, Sites and Places plan. The proposed development falls outside of the defined settlement boundary for Wickwar, and is therefore premature because a review of the boundary has yet to take place through the new Local Plan consultation process. Wickwar is not a sustainable location for further housing development without investment in infrastructure, and the Parish Council has raised a number of concerns in its response to the public consultation. In particular, the proposal will lead to (and will not be limited to):
- increased commuting for employment by car;
- increased journeys by car to access essential services unavailable in the village/ not accessible by walking/ cycling;
- increased traffic congestion on an already inadequate road network;
- a negative environmental impact on the adjacent Little Avon River and Lower Woods Nature Reserve;
- pressure for additional school places at the fully-subscribed primary school.
Your Parish Council will continue to consult and engage as we await the submission of the planning application and prepare our formal response as a statutory consultee. The Parish Council urges anyone with a view on the proposals to respond to the consultation, attend the public meeting arranged for 20th January 2021, and make comments on the planning application when it is submitted. The planning authority (South Gloucestershire Council) must take account of all the comments submitted.
