It probably hasn’t escaped your attention that a small army of volunteers has sprung up to carry out litter-picking in and around the village during the latest lockdown. We would like to extend our thanks on behalf of all residents, to everyone that has given up their time to improve the local area in this way.
Wickwar Environmental Action Group (WEAG) has done a sterling job co-ordinating volunteers and providing litter picking equipment. Your Parish Council was therefore delighted to award WEAG a grant of £274 to increase their stock of litter picking sticks and help them to meet demand from volunteers. The Council pledged a further £100 to fund high-vis vests to help make volunteers more visible and keep them safe when out litter-picking around the parish.
