South Glos. Local Plan consultation opens

South Glos. Council have opened their Phase 2 consultation on the new Local Plan. The Local Plan is the key strategic planning document for our area and will include strategy and policies to guide and manage growth and change over at least the next 15 years.

This is an important opportunity to:

  • shape the places that we live, work and socialise in;
  • have a direct impact on quality of life, the natural and built environment;
  • have positive impacts on climate change, inequalities and encourage a green economy;
  • discuss choices and make decisions about where future homes and jobs might be located, and which areas should be protected.

You can find details of the consultation here: Local Plan – Urban, Rural and Key Strategies. You may be particularly interested in the document on Creating Sustainable Rural Villages and Settlements, in which Wickwar is one of the areas identified for investigation for potential further growth.

Each consultation document includes links to questionnaires through which you can make comments on the plan and approaches. The consultation is open until 21st March.

The Parish Council are not involved in development of the Local Plan, but will be discussing their response to the SGC consultation at the next council meeting on 9th March @ 7:00pm. Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting if desired.
