Unfortunately it was not possible for the government to extend the temporary regulations allowing Councils to meet online, beyond 7th May 2021. This has left Parish and Town Councils in the difficult position of having to meet face to face or not at all. Your Councillors have voted to cancel their next meeting scheduled for 2nd June 2021, because they cannot meet in a Covid-secure way whilst allowing adequate access for members of the public. Instead, the Council will hold a short outdoor meeting in late June to approve the annual accounts before they are submitted to the external auditor. The agenda will be posted on the website as usual, and the meeting will be open to the public. At that point Councillors will decide whether it is safe to resume face to face meetings in public on 7th July (as per the annual meeting schedule), or whether to cancel and resume meetings on 1st September, when it is expected that all adults will have been offered the Covid 19 vaccine. Please keep an eye on the website for the latest news on when meetings will resume.
Rest assured that arrangements are in place to ensure that Council business can continue during this period, with essential decisions being delegated to the Clerk with input from Councillors. Your Councillors are still here to listen to your concerns and answer your questions, so please make contact in the usual way Contact – Wickwar Parish Council
