Following feedback from the community, your Parish Council would like to support two new projects using Community Infrastructure Levy funding.
The first is the installation of a new ‘dual use’ bin for litter and dog waste in the southern part of the village, where there is currently a gap in provision. Subject to permission from South Gloucestershire Council, the new bin will be installed on the grass verge on the corner of Poplar Lane and the Sodbury Road. Many residents walk this way to access the High Street and school to the north, and the new multi-user path in front of the Tyndale Reach and Saxon Gate estates to the south.
The second project is to provide a safe external electrical socket at the King George’s Field pavilion, which will be used specifically for outdoor events. Popular community events like the annual Wickwar Games and the Football Frolics rely on access to a safe power supply from the pavilion, and funding this improvement should enable more outdoor events to be held.
The combined cost of the projects is under £1,000, plus an annual contribution from CIL for ongoing emptying of the new litter bin.
The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge on new development, collected by South Gloucestershire Council. A small proportion is then distributed to the local Parish Council. Wickwar Parish Council has received £118,352.36 of CIL funding from the Tyndale Reach and Saxon Gate Estates since April 2019, and £53,306 from the pot has already been invested or committed to enhance the infrastructure of the parish.

Thanks for your comments. A list of potential projects for the next three- five years is being pulled together, and once that list has been finalised input from residents will be sought. Potential projects can be suggested to the Council at any time.

I very much support the installation of external power to the Pavilion as this will make it much safer when community events such as the Wickwar Games are organised.

I think these to projects would be a wonderful use of the CIL money. May I assume that the external electrical socket will be isolated from inside the pavilion, and only activated when outside events take place? The introduction of a multi waste bin would be a welcome addition to the village and those living around Poplar Lane.
Thank you for your comments. Yes, the specification for the pavilion project includes an internal isolator switch so that the external socket can be isolated when not in use.
