We are delighted with the new ‘dual use’ bin which has been installed on the corner of Poplar Lane and the Sodbury Road. The bin, which can be used for litter and dog poo, will plug the gap in provision in the southern part of the village. Many residents walk this way to access the High Street and school to the north, and the new multi-user path in front of the Tyndale Reach and Saxon Gate estates to the south.
The bin and the ongoing charges for emptying it, will be paid for out of Community Infrastructure Levy funding. Thank you to South Gloucestershire Council for installing it so quickly.
The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge on new development, collected by South Gloucestershire Council. A small proportion is then distributed to the local Parish Council. Wickwar Parish Council has received £118,352.36 of CIL funding from the Tyndale Reach and Saxon Gate Estates since April 2019, and £53,306 from the pot has already been invested or committed to enhance the infrastructure of the parish.
