POLITE REQUEST to Wickwar High Street residents – work on the Town Hall Clock, Wednesday 13th October from 9am

POLITE REQUEST

Wickwar Parish Council requires the use of the two parking spaces in front of Wickwar Town Hall on Wednesday 13th October from 9am, for approximately half a day. A licence has been granted by South Gloucestershire Council to place a cherry picker in these spaces to enable important repair work on the ancient clock to take place.

The Parish Council politely requests your assistance to ensure that the two spaces immediately in front of the Town Hall are vacated from Tuesday evening (12th October).

This will enable the contractors to access the spaces early on Wednesday morning. The Clerk will visit neighbouring properties/ put a note through the door, to request your assistance with this work. Thank you in advance for your co-operation. Once the cherry picker has gone, the spaces can be used again as normal.

The connecting wire between the bell and the Town Hall clock mechanism will be replaced, so the bell should chime once again on the hour.  At the same time, to minimise both disruption and cost, the blue and gold clock face will be removed and transported to Cumbria for restoration. It will be returned in around six weeks’ time, ready of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations next year.
